WHO AM I??

It is hard for many people to find their path easily where they can incorporate in developing the society or in achieving their long-term dreams. Fortunately, I was one of the lucky students who was able to join one of the most successful scholarships in Egypt and who was able to achieve many of her big dreams.

Introducing myself, I am Rana Elsekhily, 20 years old, from Port Said. I am studying Computer Science at MSA University in 6th October City. The story behind studying at this place was:

The stage of Sanwaya Amma was very hard for me. I was studying a lot trying to get high marks, but the final exams were against my hopes. I got 92% in the first year, and 90% in the second. It was a big shock for me because I wasn’t able to join Engineering Faculty. I was feeling that all my dreams were gone in instant.

Before joining MSA University, I was in English Commerce at Port Said University. After I had finished my first year, I got an “Excellent” degree which opened me the path to apply for a student’s scholarship called “LOTUS”. This scholarship was requiring students who finished Sanwaya Amma with minimum degree 85%, or first year of university with minimum degree “Good”.  It was providing these students the chance to enter any faculty they want in 5 excellent private universities: MSA, BUE, CCU, PUE and FUE. Thanks God this scholarship was applicable for me, and they declared me as a student of this scholarship, who will study at MSA University, after 3 months of interviews, camps, and a home visit. At this time, I felt that everything in my life was changed, and I needed to set my goals again.

After I joined LOTUS, I took many sessions related to academic performance, personal development, leadership enhancement, and many others.  I really benefit from these sessions because they promote the personality and the sense of achievement, commitment and responsibility for the person.  Also I do like my field of studying now, computer science, and I am able to get an “Excellent” degree every semester because I love computing and information system, and because of the scholarship assessment. Last year, LOTUS rewarded me with a semester abroad in the US as a result of my success and hard work. It was my biggest dream to visit America and see a different culture.

All what I mentioned before doesn’t mean that I didn’t participate in any volunteering community or a non-profit organization. From Sanwaya Amma till now, I participated in many charity organizations like: Hayah and Resala to improve the life of poor people. Also, I am a member in AYB in Port Said Organization which care for developing the society. And regarding to my field of study, I joined Microsoft Student Partner in my university to improve my knowledge in computing and information field.

What I see in “Team Work” problem is that many people don’t know what the meaning of the word “team” is. Sometimes, people are shy to set their opinions or thoughts loudly because there are others looking at them and hearing what they are saying; they aren’t confident of themselves enough to talk and share bravely. Some people also don’t see that there is no “I” in team; people should work together and help each other to reach a successful required output. We all need to know that there is no individual work would be better than a collective one.

I should say that my dreams didn’t stop yet. I still hope to be better a person and to achieve all the good to my country. I want to establish my own computer company. I want to get involved in more organizations which seek to the individual improvement and the enhancement of the personal rule in the society. I am sure Reyady is one of these communities I am talking about, and because of this I liked to participate and apply for it. When I read Reyady’s mission and vision before applying, I thought that it is a complement to my dreams that I hope to achieve one day. I am sure that my choice is opportune, and I will find all I want in Reyady.
